THU HO (MIA) - VISUAL ARTIST
I am a Vietnamese Canadian visual artist whose practice explores identity, belonging, memory, and transformation through fibre art, photography, and traditional printmaking.
Having lived in Vietnam for forty-five years before immigrating to Canada, I work between cultures, landscapes, and ways of knowing. My artworks emerge from personal experiences of migration, motherhood, ecological connection, and the continual process of becoming.
Slow making is central to my practice. Hand stitching, natural fibres, handmade paper, and layered imagery invite viewers to pause and notice the beauty found in imperfection, repair, and quiet resilience.
Influenced by Eastern philosophies, contemporary textile practices, and ecological thinking, I see every stitch as both a mark of memory and an act of care.
My work invites reflection on what it means to belong—not only to a place, but also to ourselves and to the living world.
