THU HO (MIA) - VISUAL ARTIST
Thu Ho is a Vietnamese Canadian visual artist whose practice weaves together fibre art, photography, printmaking, and mixed media to explore themes of identity, migration, memory, belonging, and ecological relationships.
Born and raised in Vietnam before making Canada her home, she draws upon lived experiences that bridge cultures, landscapes, and generations. Her artistic process is rooted in slow making, where hand stitching becomes both a meditative practice and a visual language for repair, resilience, and transformation.
Working with natural fibres, reclaimed textiles, handmade papers, botanical elements, and traditional water-based woodblock printing, Thu creates poetic works that honour imperfection, quiet observation, and the interconnectedness of people and the natural world.
Her work is informed by Eastern philosophies, sustainable art practices, and community-engaged approaches that value care, presence, and relational ways of knowing. Rather than seeking perfection, she embraces the traces left by time, memory, and the hand.
Through exhibitions, workshops, and collaborative projects, Thu creates spaces for people to slow down, reflect, and reconnect with themselves and their environments. Her artworks invite viewers into spaces of contemplation where personal stories intersect with collective experiences of belonging and renewal.
